at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum

The Larz Anderson Auto Museum offers a unique and historic setting for your next event! The Museum can accommodate up to 150 people inside, and guests are sure to have an unforgettable experience in the stunning main gallery of the Museum amidst breathtaking vintage automobiles. The Museum features vaulted ceilings with exposed beams and brick.

The Great Lawn of the Museum - located in the center of the majestic Larz Anderson Park - can be tented seasonally to accommodate larger parties of up to 500. Guests can enjoy stunning views of the park right under the tent.

Weddings

Just minutes from Boston and set amid the beautiful, 64-acre Larz Anderson Park, you will find the Larz Anderson Museum.

The Larz Anderson Auto Museum has been recognized as one of the top 25 tourist attractions in Massachusetts by the Boston Business Journal. With its stunning view of the Boston skyline, the Larz Anderson Park carries the distinction as being one of the top five most romantic places in the Boston area for a marriage proposal. The museum’s historic Carriage House was built in 1888 by the first official architect of Boston, Edmund Wheelwright, and modeled after the Chateau de Chaumont-Sur-Loire in France.

The estate once belonged to Larz and Isabel Anderson, who began their love affair with the automobile in 1899, shortly after they married. Follow in Larz and Isabel’s footsteps and continue your love affair with a magnificent wedding ceremony on the lawn or adjoining park, followed by an extraordinary reception surrounded by some of the finest automobiles the world has ever seen.

Because of the proximity to the Larz Anderson Park, clients will often use the park areas, as well as the museum. Corporate clients have used the ball field and other areas of the park for team-building activities prior to refreshments or meetings inside the Carriage House. There are three distinct sites in the park that are ideally suited to an outdoor wedding ceremony – the Top of the Hill and the Temple of Love being two favorites. Clients do need a permit from the Town of Brookline when using any area of the park. Otherwise, the Great Lawn can be utilized for a minimal fee. The Museum provides numerous indoor and outdoor options for using the Museum’s function spaces.

The Museum’s appeal is not just for car enthusiasts but also for lovers of local history and architecture and those with an appreciation for what is vintage and beautiful. This is most certainly a unique location of culture and inspiration.

Corporate Events

The historic Carriage House of the Museum, constructed in 1888 by Boston's first official architect, Edmund Wheelwright, is a splendid architectural gem inspired by the Chateau de Chaumont-Sur-Loire in France.

This Carriage House provides an ideal venue for various events such as corporate dinners, fundraisers, meetings, or cocktail receptions. Your guests will enjoy exclusive access to all public galleries, and the option of having a knowledgeable docent available for guided tours.

With ample free parking available, the Museum's expansive Great Lawn is perfect for larger gatherings, whether it be for events requiring a tent or outdoor activities like a classic New England clambake, lawn games, or simply relishing cocktails outdoors while basking in the sunset.

Tented Events

Nestled amidst the verdant expanse, the tented event on the lawn at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum offers an idyllic setting capable of accommodating groups of up to 500 individuals. This expansive space, enveloped by the museum's captivating ambiance, provides guests with an unparalleled experience. While reveling in the festivities, attendees are granted full access to explore the museum's treasures, immersing themselves in the rich tapestry of automotive history. As the event unfolds, guests often choose to commence their evening with a delightful cocktail hour inside the charming confines of the Carriage House. With glasses raised in toast, laughter echoing through the historic halls, they then venture outdoors for the main reception, where the enchantment of the evening continues beneath the starlit sky.

EVENT SPACES

Main Gallery

The majestic Main Gallery can seat up to 100 guests, leaving room in front of the Great Doors, providing a dramatic backdrop for a large dance floor space. A standing cocktail reception can easily accommodate up to 150 guests.

Stable Room

The Stable Room, where the Anderson horses were once stalled, is commonly used as the cocktail area or for a buffet, bar and/or food stations. Some use this space for the quieter conversation area, separate from the Main Gallery.

On the Lawn

The Great Lawn has been host to picnics and barbecues, automobile shows, auctions, weddings, and large tented events for almost 100 years. The lawn, with a tent, can accommodate groups up to 500.

EVENT REGULATIONS

Capacity

Indoor capacity is 150 for a standing cocktail style reception or up to 100 for a formal seated dinner.

Caterers

The Museum requires use of one of our Authorized Caterers for the duration of the event. View list here.

Tables & Chairs

Tables and chairs are included for indoor events up to 100 guests. Tables and chairs are not included for outdoor events.

Dancing & Music

Permitted inside for groups of 150 or less. Music ends at 11pm.

Police

A detail is required for all events serving alcohol, outdoor events or event of over 100 people.

Terms

50% non-refundable deposit due with the signed agreement. Balance due one week prior to event. $500 refundable damage deposit required. Other charges apply for specialized services.
